Local sampling for indoor flight

چکیده
A challenging problem in artificial intelligence is to achieve vision-based autonomous indoor flight with Micro Air Vehicles. Approaches to this problem currently do not make use of image appearance features, because these features generally are computationally expensive. In this article, we deliver a proof-ofconcept that appearance features can be extracted computationally efficient enough to be used for autonomous flight. In particular, we present a novel height control algorithm that uses local sampling; it estimates the height at which an image is taken by processing small image patches. We vary the specific number of image patches to directly influence the trade-off between processing time and the accuracy of the height estimation. The algorithm is first tested on image sets and then on videos taken from a real platform. Finally, we test the algorithm on a 15-gram ornithopter in an office room. The experiments show that very few image patches ( 0.56% of all possible patches) are already sufficient for the task of height control.

Polynomial Trajectory Planning for Aggressive Quadrotor Flight in Dense Indoor Environments
We explore the challenges of planning trajectories for quadrotors through cluttered indoor environments. We extend the existing work on polynomial trajectory generation by presenting a method of jointly optimizing polynomial path segments in an unconstrained quadratic program that is numerically stable for highorder polynomials and large numbers of segments, and is easily formulated for efficie...
متن کاملAssessment of lung cancer risk due to indoor radon exposure in inhabitants of the state of Azad Kashmir Pakistan
Background: Several epidemiological studies conducted on underground miner’s show that exposure to elevated levels of radioactive radon gas is expected to increase the risk of lung cancer. Relative risk of lung cancer is almost linear with radon exposure. Elevated concentrations of radon are not only reported within mines but also for closed indoor environment of general public houses....

Introduction: One of the harmful pollutants in the indoor environments is particulate matters. Particles smaller than 2.5 micrometer in diameter that are suspend in the industrial environments air are the most deleterious dusts which can cause lung disease and cancer. In present study PM2.5 concentration in the fast-food shops air and its cancer risk for shop workers were assessed. Material ...
متن کاملIndoor and Outdoor Depth Imaging of Leaves With Time of Flight and stereo vision Sensors: Analysis and Comparison
In this article we analyze the response of Time of Flight cameras (active sensors) for close range imaging under three different illumination conditions and compare the results with stereo vision (passive) sensors. Time of Flight sensors are sensitive to ambient light and have low resolution but deliver high frame rate accurate depth data under suitable conditions. We introduce some metrics for...
متن کاملA 6 DoF Visual Tracking System for a Miniature Helicopter
This paper presents a low-cost 6 Degrees-of-Freedom (6 DoF) visual tracking technique and its system for a small indoor rotary-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) using three onboard LEDs and a single on-ground camera. The ellipse formed by the cyan LEDs on the blades and the red LED in the captured image are utilised for pose estimation. The developed system successfully implements the proposed...
